This current franchise is the second try in Atlanta by the NASL after the Apollo's folded. Atlanta went by the nickname of the Cheifs. They shared the same ownership and stadium with the Atlanta Braves an American baseball franchise. Upon being sold Atlanta went with a new logo and name, as well as moving out to a small stadium at Kennasaw State University.
The University and John Netjam the owner of Atlanta Athletic Club split the cost of construction of the Stadium. Of note is the National Park with Kennasaw Mountain looming out beyond the stands, truely one of the most majestic settings in the NASL.
The AAC main sponser is ABM industries, a large corporation that provides Janitorial & Security Services across North America.
