Rogues kickoff Major League Soccer era with opening night game with Red Bull NY.

Memphis Rogues 1 - 2 Red Bull New York.

First Goal in history for the MLS Rogues!
(January 17, 2017) It was a magical night at Mud Island Park as the Rogues debeued againist Red Bull NY. Every seat was sold and the crowd was rancous as the Franchise was reborn. It had been 27 years since big league soccer had been played in Memphis.

During the player introductions the fans were seen setting off flares and the excitement was evident by the roar of the crowd (see video below).

The noise level went up even higher when Forward S. Okazaki stuck for the first goal. Memphis had the lead and momentum. But disaster struck in the form of an errant pass from Rogues Goalie Zieler it was intercepted and immediately shot back at the goal for a NY score.

Later in the second half NY scored again and secured a victory, but regardless it was a great night for professional sports in Memphis.
